Akkodis ASP Team Finalizes Driver Line-Up for 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship
French outfit Akkodis ASP Team has confirmed its two Bronze-graded drivers for the upcoming 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), completing the roster for its pair of Lexus RC F LMGT3 entries. The announcement strengthens the team’s push in its second year of FIA WEC competition after a promising debut season in 2024.
Umbrarescu Joins López in #87 Lexus
Two-time world champion José María López, who was already confirmed as a Pro driver, will share the #87 car with Petru Umbrarescu. The Romanian racer has prior experience with Jérôme Policand’s squad, having competed in the GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup in 2021 and 2022, where he twice secured podiums alongside Jules Gounon.
“It feels surreal that I will be joining the FIA WEC grid in 2025, especially with a team that I am very fond of,” said Umbrarescu. “I honestly couldn’t be happier and more motivated for this new challenge.”
Robin Retained for Second Season in #78 Lexus
In the sister #78 Lexus, Frenchman Arnold Robin will continue alongside Pro driver Ben Barnicoat. Robin impressed during his rookie WEC campaign in 2024, consistently shining in qualifying, including three appearances in the Hyperpole session and a standout sixth-place start at Fuji. The 40-year-old previously claimed the GT3 class championship in the 2023 Michelin Le Mans Cup.
“I’m very proud to participate in this championship again, and in particular with Akkodis ASP Team,” Robin commented. “I learned and improved a lot last year, and I’m sure the work done in 2024 by everybody involved will prove useful. I can’t wait for the season to start.”
Building on a Promising 2024 Debut
Akkodis ASP Team made its FIA WEC debut in 2024, achieving four points-scoring finishes and celebrating a double top-eight result at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. With the addition of Umbrarescu and the retention of Robin, the team has strengthened its lineup for 2025 as it aims to build on its early progress.
