Akkodis ASP Blends Experience and Youth for FIA WEC 2025 Campaign
The Akkodis ASP Team has confirmed its complete FIA World Endurance Championship, WEC 2025 LMGT3 line-up, opting for a mix of experience and youthful talent as it aims to build on its debut season with Lexus.
Clemens Schmid Returns for #87 Lexus
Austrian driver Clemens Schmid, renowned for his consistency and race management, returns to the French squad after competing in three rounds last year with the Lexus RC F GT3. Schmid impressed immediately by setting the fastest lap in class during free practice at Spa-Francorchamps.
For 2025, he will join forces with two-time world champion José María López and Romanian rookie Petru Umbrarescu in the #87 Lexus.
“Competing at Le Mans has always been a dream of mine,” said Schmid. “With such a strong line-up and a professional team, I am confident we can fight at the very front of the field.”
Finn Gehrsitz Makes FIA WEC Debut in #78 Lexus
In the sister #78 Lexus, German racer Finn Gehrsitz will make his FIA WEC debut. At just 20 years old, Gehrsitz already boasts a rich résumé, including becoming the youngest pole-sitter in the Michelin Le Mans Cup (2021) and stints in the European and Asian Le Mans Series. Most recently, he competed in the GT World Challenge Asia.
Gehrsitz will partner with Ben Barnicoat and Arnold Robin, bringing youthful energy and determination to the line-up.
“Joining Akkodis ASP and representing Lexus in FIA WEC is a huge step in my career,” said Gehrsitz. “I feel prepared and motivated to give everything for success this season.”
Building a Strong Future with Lexus
The confirmation of Schmid and Gehrsitz solidifies Akkodis ASP’s strategy of combining proven racecraft with rising stars. With two strong line-ups across its #87 and #78 Lexus LMGT3 entries, the team is poised to challenge for consistent points and podiums in its sophomore WEC season.
