Aston Martin THOR Team unveils the striking green livery for its Valkyrie Hypercars and confirms the full driver pairings as it aims for a historic Le Mans victory in the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship.
Iconic Green Returns as Aston Martin Targets Le Mans Glory
The Aston Martin THOR Team has presented the visually arresting green livery that will adorn its two Valkyrie Hypercars competing in the top tier of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) this season. This iconic color scheme, synonymous with British motorsport triumphs at Le Mans, underscores the ultra-luxury performance brand’s ambition to secure its first outright victory at the legendary 24-hour race since 1959.
Aston Martin Valkyrie: A Unique Production-Derived Hypercar
Developed by Aston Martin Performance Technologies in collaboration with The Heart of Racing (THOR), the race-tuned Valkyrie stands out as the only Hypercar on the FIA WEC 2025 grid directly derived from a production vehicle. This unique proposition is based on the road car jointly conceived by Aston Martin Chief Creative Officer Marek Reichman and renowned Formula 1 designer Adrian Newey, highlighting the fusion of high-performance engineering and cutting-edge design.
Star-Studded Driver Line-Up Announced for WEC Campaign
Aston Martin has confirmed the complete driver line-up for its two Valkyrie Hypercars. The #007 entry will feature an all-British trio at the 24 Hours of Le Mans: Harry Tincknell, Tom Gamble, and Aston Martin Racing works driver Ross Gunn. Tincknell, a former ELMS champion and 2020 Le Mans LMGTE Pro winner with Aston Martin, is partnered by fellow ELMS champion Gamble and multiple IMSA race winner Gunn. For longer events, they will be joined by Roman De Angelis.
The sister #009 car will see Alex Riberas step up to the Hypercar class after a successful season in FIA WEC’s LMGT3 division. The Spaniard will team up with Aston Martin’s most successful active racing driver, three-time FIA WEC class champion and Le Mans class winner Marco Sørensen. De Angelis will also join this crew for the endurance races.
Rigorous Testing Program Underlines Le Mans Ambitions
Since its initial track tests in July 2024, the Aston Martin Valkyrie has undergone an extensive evaluation program, completing over 15,000 kilometers on circuits across Europe, the US, and the Middle East. This comprehensive testing underscores the team’s commitment and ambition as they prepare for their world competition debut in Qatar with just three weeks remaining.
Facing Experienced Rivals in Competitive Hypercar Field
While Aston Martin’s ambitions are high, the team acknowledges the challenge of competing against a strong Hypercar field that includes seven other major manufacturers, many with prior experience in the championship. The FIA WEC 2025 season promises a thrilling battle in the top class, with Aston Martin’s unique Valkyrie aiming to make a significant impact.
