Iron Lynx Unveils Mercedes-AMG LMGT3 Cars and Confirms Full Driver Roster for 2025 WEC Season
Iron Lynx Racing has officially pulled the covers off its pair of Mercedes-AMG LMGT3 race cars, marking a significant milestone ahead of the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) season. Alongside the livery reveal, the team has also finalized its full eight-round driver line-up, signaling its readiness for an ambitious new chapter in partnership with Mercedes-AMG.
Mercedes-AMG Returns to WEC and Le Mans
Mercedes-AMG made waves late last year by announcing its FIA WEC debut and a historic return to the 24 Hours of Le Mans, ending a 26-year absence from the French endurance classic it last won in 1952 and 1989. The two-car entry will be operated by Iron Lynx, a team known for its strong pedigree in GT racing and multiple podium finishes in WEC competition.
In a nod to the rich history of both entities, the unveiled liveries combine heritage-inspired elements and bold, modern design—celebrating the brands’ shared commitment to racing excellence.
Driver Line-Up Finalized for #60 and #61 AMG GT3s
The #60 Mercedes-AMG will see a continuation of Iron Lynx’s proven core, with Claudio Schiavoni and Matteo Cressoni embarking on their fifth consecutive WEC season together. Joining them is Matteo Cairoli, who impressed during the 2024 season finale in Bahrain, helping the team secure a season-best P4 finish. Despite being just 28, Cairoli brings deep WEC experience, including eight Le Mans starts and multiple class victories.
In the #61 entry, a mix of experience and youth will define the lineup. Christian Ried, a WEC mainstay who’s competed in every season since the series’ inception in 2012, returns to full-time competition. He will be joined by Maxime Martin, a new Mercedes-AMG Performance Driver with elite endurance racing credentials, and Lin Hodenius, an 18-year-old Dutch talent making his WEC debut after transitioning from single-seater racing.
Iron Lynx Praises Line-Up Balance and AMG Partnership
Iron Lynx Team Principal and CEO Andrea Piccini expressed confidence in both the team’s preparations and the strength of the new driver combinations.
“We are very satisfied with how our driver line-up has shaped up and for the positive collaboration we have established with Mercedes-AMG. On one side, we continue with the experienced pairing of Schiavoni and Cressoni, and add a quick, seasoned racer like Cairoli. On the other, we bring back the driver with the most WEC starts—Christian Ried—alongside rookie Lin Hodenius, who impressed us with his raw speed and composure.”
Piccini also highlighted the value that Maxime Martin brings to the program, calling him “one of the world’s strongest competitors in endurance racing.”
Looking Ahead: Season 2025 and the Road to Le Mans
The 2025 FIA WEC season will feature eight rounds, with Iron Lynx poised to be a serious contender in the LMGT3 class. With the debut of Mercedes-AMG in the WEC and Iron Lynx’s proven racing infrastructure, expectations are high—especially as the countdown begins toward the return to Le Mans in June.
As both team and manufacturer prepare for a landmark season, fans can expect a thrilling new era of competition, style, and speed in the world of endurance racing.
