Marco Bezzecchi Claims First MotoGP 2025 Win for Aprilia in Chaotic Silverstone Showdown
Marco Bezzecchi delivered a flawless performance in one of the most dramatic races of the MotoGP 2025 season, winning the British Grand Prix at Silverstone and securing Aprilia Racing’s first victory of the year. The Italian capitalized on a late-race mechanical failure for Fabio Quartararo, who had led comfortably before a ride-height device issue forced him to retire.
Johann Zarco finished a strong second for Honda, while Marc Marquez fended off an all-out brawl for third, completing the podium after a red-flagged restart, early crashes, and fierce final-lap battles.
High Drama from Lights Out
The race exploded into action from the start. Alex Marquez grabbed the early lead but crashed out at Turn 1, handing the front-running duties to Marc Marquez, Quartararo, and Francesco Bagnaia. But the chaos continued. A crash involving Franco Morbidelli and Aleix Espargaro brought out the red flags, and moments later, Marc Marquez crashed from the lead at Turn 11.
With fewer than three laps completed, a restart was triggered, giving all riders a second chance—even those who had gone down.
Restart Resets the Race
On the restart, Bagnaia led into Turn 1, but Quartararo wasted no time reclaiming the front. By the end of the opening lap, he had built a 1.2-second gap. A Yamaha 1-2 briefly formed as Jack Miller overtook Bagnaia, but Zarco and Bezzecchi soon joined the mix.
While Quartararo continued to stretch his lead—up to 5.3s by Lap 6—behind him, Bezzecchi and Zarco began slicing through the field, demoting Miller and hunting down the leader. Meanwhile, Marc Marquez climbed through the pack once again, showing his grit after his earlier crash.
Quartararo’s Heartbreak, Bezzecchi’s Gain
Just as Quartararo looked on course for his first win of the season, disaster struck. A technical malfunction with the rear ride height device forced him to raise his arm and abandon the race. Yamaha’s hopes were dashed in an instant, and Bezzecchi inherited the lead with clear air ahead.
With Zarco and Marquez behind, Bezzecchi extended his advantage to over four seconds by the closing laps.
Last-Lap Podium Fight Steals the Spotlight
The final lap turned into a classic scrap for the final podium spot. Marc Marquez, Franco Morbidelli, Jack Miller, and Alex Marquez were all in the hunt. Morbidelli briefly passed Marquez, only for the #93 to strike back at Stowe. The pair swapped positions again at Vale before Marquez executed a brilliant cutback to clinch third place by mere inches.
Behind them, Alex Marquez crossed the line just behind the group in P5.
