Porsche Celebrates 911 Legacy with Spirit 70 and GT3 Reveal at Auto Shanghai 2025
Two iconic models — the limited-edition Porsche 911 Spirit 70 and the performance-focused Porsche 911 GT3 stole the spotlight at Auto Shanghai 2025 — marking a tribute to the brand’s six-decade-long sports car legacy.
Porsche 911 Spirit 70: A Heritage Revival
Positioned as the third model in Porsche’s Heritage Design strategy, the 911 Spirit 70 is a nod to the brand’s golden era of the 1970s and early 1980s. Limited to just 1,500 units, this collector’s edition is based on the 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet and comes equipped with the innovative T-Hybrid system. Producing 398 kW (541 PS), the model combines sustainable performance with distinctive styling.
The exterior features a new Olive Neo paint job, while the interior is highlighted by the iconic Pascha pattern—paying homage to vintage Porsche design. This modern classic seamlessly blends retro aesthetics with cutting-edge hybrid performance, symbolising Porsche’s enduring commitment to innovation grounded in tradition.
Porsche 911 GT3 Returns to Chinese Market
In a thrilling comeback, the track-oriented 911 GT3 was also showcased. Known for its motorsport DNA and high-revving naturally aspirated engine (375 kW / 510 PS), the 911 GT3 has long been a fan-favorite among purists. Enhancements for 2025 include a lightweight folding bucket seat with a quick-release headrest for helmet use—catering to racing enthusiasts.
The elegant 911 GT3 Touring, a version that replaces the fixed rear wing with a more understated look, will now be available in China for the first time.
Tailored Macan and Cayenne Editions for Chinese Market
Recognising regional preferences, Porsche also introduced market-specific Passion and Active editions of the Macan and Cayenne SUVs. The Passion editions focus on urban luxury with enhanced standard features, while the rugged Active editions feature off-road styling and equipment designed for outdoor adventures.
A Porsche Experience Hub Coming to Shanghai
To deepen its connection with Chinese customers, Porsche announced the launch of a new experiential brand pop-up in Shanghai. Inspired by the immersive Auto Shanghai stand, the space will celebrate Porsche’s heritage, motorsport excellence, and bespoke individualisation capabilities.
Porsche‘s unveiling at Auto Shanghai underscores the brand’s unique ability to blend history with innovation, continuing its global legacy of passion and performance.
