Škoda India Brings in the All-New Second-Gen Kodiaq with Performance, Space, and Style
Škoda Auto India has officially launched the second generation of its flagship luxury SUV, the Kodiaq, as part of its 25-year celebration in India and the brand’s 130th global anniversary. With bookings now open online and deliveries beginning on May 2, 2025, the new Kodiaq promises to raise the bar in the premium SUV segment, combining refined luxury with rugged versatility.
The new Kodiaq is available in two variants—Sportline and Selection L&K—both offering seven-seat configurations, all-wheel drive, and powerful on-road and off-road dynamics. Speaking on the occasion, Petr Janeba, Brand Director of Škoda Auto India, highlighted that while the Kylaq and Kushaq have driven recent sales records, the Kodiaq represents the other end of Škoda’s product spectrum with its legacy status, luxurious appeal, and technological depth.
Powertrain and Driving Experience
Under the hood, the Kodiaq is powered by a 2.0-litre TSI engine that generates 150kW (204 PS) and 320 Nm of torque. Paired with a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission, the power is channelled to all four wheels for confident performance across varying terrain. The SUV is based on the MQB37 platform and has been rated by ARAI to deliver a fuel efficiency of 14.86 km/l. Assembled at Škoda’s Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar facility, the Kodiaq is engineered to suit Indian roads while retaining its European essence.
Design, Dimensions, and Practicality
The all-new Kodiaq is longer than its predecessor, measuring 4,758 mm in length, with a height of 1,679 mm, width of 1,864 mm, and a 2,791 mm wheelbase. It offers 281 litres of boot space with all rows up, which expands to 786 litres with the third row folded, and a massive 1,976 litres when both rear rows are flat.
Its exterior design has been refreshed with a bold front grille featuring an integrated LED light strip, updated LED Beam Crystallinium headlamps with a Welcome Effect, and distinctive rear styling including a red strip that connects the taillamps for a broader stance. The Sportline trim gets Glossy Black accents, while the Selection L&K trim features refined Dark Chrome touches. The SUV is available in six paint options, with Bronx Gold exclusive to the L&K variant and Steel Grey reserved for the Sportline.
Interior Luxury and Tech Features
Inside, the Kodiaq continues to offer a premium cabin experience tailored for comfort and connectivity. The Sportline variant features an all-black sporty theme, while the Selection L&K version gets plush Cognac leather upholstery. The centre console houses a 32.77 cm infotainment touchscreen, while Škoda’s new Smart Dials provide tactile controls for climate, audio, and drive settings.
Passenger comfort is enhanced with pneumatic massage Ergo seats, acoustic side glass for reduced cabin noise, and amenities like a tablet holder for rear passengers, sliding panoramic sunroof, and a 725W Canton sound system with 13 speakers and a subwoofer. Safety remains a priority with nine airbags, further solidifying its position as a premium family SUV.
Ownership Experience and Pricing
Škoda has bundled the Kodiaq with a 5-year or 125,000 km standard warranty, along with 10 years of complimentary roadside assistance. Buyers also receive Škoda SuperCare—a no-cost standard maintenance plan for the first year, making ownership more convenient and cost-effective.
The Kodiaq Sportline is priced at ₹46.89 lakh, while the Selection L&K comes in at ₹48.69 lakh (ex-showroom India). These variants offer a clear choice between sportiness and luxury, without compromising on performance or practicality.
A Legacy SUV Reimagined
First introduced in India in 2017, the Kodiaq was the pioneer of Škoda’s naming tradition for ICE SUVs. It set the tone for what Indian buyers could expect from a full-sized, well-equipped family SUV. The second-generation model continues this legacy, now enhanced with modern technology, improved driving dynamics, and upscale design—positioning it as a strong contender in India’s luxury SUV market.
