United Autosports McLaren 720S LMGT3 Evo
United Autosports has officially joined the “papaya party,” unveiling a striking new livery for its McLaren 720S LMGT3 Evo entries in the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). The refreshed design pays homage to McLaren’s iconic racing heritage, particularly its 1995 triumph at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
With this summer marking the 30th anniversary of McLaren’s legendary Le Mans victory, the #59 and #95 McLaren 720S LMGT3 Evo race cars will don the distinctive papaya color scheme that aligns with McLaren Racing’s Formula 1, IndyCar, and Formula E teams. The aerodynamic lines of the 720S LMGT3 Evo are further accentuated by this bold design, emphasizing both style and performance.
A Tribute to McLaren’s Le Mans Legacy
“It’s a very special year to be racing with McLaren in FIA WEC,” said Richard Dean, CEO of United Autosports. “Our 2025 livery celebrates that history. This season is about building upon strong foundations, winning races, and going for the championship title, and we are doing that in a car that is proudly, unmistakeably McLaren.”
The #59 car carries the same number as the McLaren F1 GTR that secured the 1995 Le Mans victory, driven by James Cottingham, Grégoire Saucy, and new addition Sébastien Baud. The trio aims to continue United Autosports’ strong performance after Cottingham and Saucy secured multiple top-four finishes last season, while Baud brings podium experience from his LMGT3 run with TF Sport in Bahrain.
In the #95 McLaren, FIA WEC race winners Darren Leung and Sean Gelael make their United Autosports debut, alongside returning podium-finisher Marino Sato. The number pays tribute to McLaren’s endurance racing success, reinforcing the team’s commitment to championship contention.
A Confident Step Toward FIA WEC Glory
“Now that we have proven the McLaren 720S LMGT3 Evo’s speed and endurance at the highest level of competition, we enter the new season confident of competing for the FIA WEC title with our racing partner, United Autosports,” stated Michael Leiters, CEO of McLaren Automotive.
“Racing is in the DNA of all our supercars, and FIA WEC – with the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans at its heart – is the ideal competitive environment for them. We are excited for what we can deliver together on the track this year.”
As United Autosports and McLaren gear up for the 2025 FIA WEC season, the blend of past triumphs and future ambitions promises an electrifying year of endurance racing.
