Hypercar: Ferrari Dominates with 1-2-3 Sweep
Ferrari AF Corse continued its 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) momentum by securing a clean sweep of the front row — and more — in qualifying at Spa-Francorchamps. Antonio Fuoco clinched pole in the #50 Ferrari 499P with a blistering 1:59.617 lap, marking Ferrari’s third consecutive pole this season.
Fuoco was joined on the front row by teammate Robert Kubica in the #83 AF Corse Ferrari, who was the only other driver to break the two-minute barrier. Antonio Giovinazzi completed the Ferrari trifecta with a P3 time of 2:00.201 in the #51 car, freshly repaired after a crash in Thursday’s FP2 session.
Stoffel Vandoorne delivered Peugeot’s best qualifying result of the year, putting the #94 9X8 in fourth, ahead of Cadillac’s #12 Hypercar and Alpine’s #36 entry, driven by Alex Lynn and Mick Schumacher respectively.
Porsche, Toyota, and Aston Martin all failed to reach the Hyperpole shootout, marking a tough session for several championship contenders.
LMGT3: Gehrsitz and Lexus Stun Field with Debut Pole
In the LMGT3 class, rookie Finn Gehrsitz made history for both himself and Akkodis ASP Team by securing their maiden WEC pole position. His 2:17.732 lap in the #78 Lexus stood firm despite late charges from rivals, delivering a breakthrough moment for the brand in its debut WEC season.
Edoardo Barrichello’s fast final lap put the #10 Racing Spirit of LeMan Aston Martin second, just 0.276s behind Gehrsitz. Ben Tuck placed the #77 Proton Competition Ford Mustang in third, claiming the team’s best qualifying of the year.
Proton’s second Mustang (#88) followed in fourth, with Stefano Gattuso and Giammarco Levorato both contributing strong laps. The Heart of Racing Aston Martin rounded out the top five, followed by the #54 VISTA AF Corse Ferrari.
A tight initial session saw the top three LMGT3 contenders separated by just 0.053 seconds, underscoring the competitiveness of the class.
Iron Lynx Fights to Qualify After Damage
The #60 Iron Lynx Mercedes-AMG, which sustained damage during FP2, made it back on track after a monumental repair effort but could only qualify at the back of the 36-car grid.
